Ameresco Canada is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Operations to oversee the Canadian Business Unit. This role will be based in Toronto, ON and will report directly to the President – Ameresco Canada.


  • Develop annual revenue, overhead and profit budgets, and assist with sales planning and local strategies for the Canadian business consistent with Ameresco’s corporate goals and objectives 
  • Provide overall general management to all Canadian operations
  • Work closely with the legal function to negotiate customer and subcontractor agreements as needed 
  • Work closely with the finance function to manage cash flow, accounts payable and accounts receivable for the Canadian business 
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place and followed to manage the Canadian business unit’s operational risk and regulatory compliance 
  • Ensure day to day Canadian operations maintains continued alignment with overall corporate policies, strategies and direction
  • Lead the constant drive and focus to improve operational efficiency via development or refinement of processes, leadership of people or other practical measures, raising the bar on business performance delivery 
  • Deliver on performance management objectives, agreed business plans, budgets, targets and reports on both positive and negative factors impacting the Canadian business 
  • Perform other duties as required 


  • Minimum 10 years of executive level experience leading strategic planning, project management, project engineering, project finance and consulting activities focusing on energy efficiency and renewable solutions project opportunities.
  • Previous experience managing P&L statements for large national operations
  • Proven track record of securing high volume transactional sales and complex offerings from top-level management, including lead development and account cultivation skills, effective negotiation and closing techniques, and strong relationship management capabilities.
  • Proven ability for implementation of strategies, practices, and processes that produce high technical quality in service delivery and meet or exceed Company and customer satisfaction, financial, and performance goals. 
  • Proven ability to train, develop, assign, and evaluate teams in accordance with organizational goals and standards.
  • BA/BS Degree plus advanced education in Engineering, Economics, or Business discipline (MBA, MS preferred).
  • Successful track record of leading strategic organizational initiatives to optimize business performance.
  • Extensive change management experience. 
  • Demonstrated business acumen with advanced analytical, problem-solving, negotiation skills and abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, and technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of leading and building positive, collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliverables within an entrepreneurial work setting.
  • National travel will be required.
